Prez Akufo-Addo Is a Warlord – Minority

The Minority in Parliament has accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of lacking sincerity and genuineness to uproot the menace of party militias and vigilantes as claimed in the State of the Nation Address.
According to the minority, Joy News’ special undercover investigative report has exposed the pretentious and deceptive character of the President who publicly engages in lofty rhetoric about urgent need to disband political party militias while busily nurturing many more behind the scenes.
This, the Minority said, is a clear case of preaching virtue and practicing vice and a perfect class act that easily makes the President candidate for an Oscar.
At a press briefing addressed by the Deputy Minority leader, Hon. James Klutse Avedzi, he stated that contrary to President Akufo-Addo’s innocent façade, it has emerged he is secretly harbouring militias in no other place than the former seat of government; the Osu Castle.
He noted that per advice by Prof. Henrietta Mensah Bonsu who insisted persons who sponsor and house party militias are war lords, President Akufo-Addo has demonstrated he is a Warlord.
He said, “President Akufo-Addo is himself a Warlord as Prof. Henrietta Mensah Bonsu has appropriately advised on how to describe persons who sponsor and house party militias.”
Mr. Avedzi indicated that Mr. Kofi Koosom, a bosom friend of the President, among many of his close friends who knew him well, had prophesized about a decade ago that Ghana would not be safe under an Akufo-Addo Presidency and stressed he would not be able to sleep with his eyes closed.
He said, “Many were those who thought a rebranded Nana Akufo-Addo would depart from those tendencies his close friends were frightened about but alas we were all mistaken.”
The Deputy leader indicated that the Minority was totally shocked after watching the Joy News report and stressed the content is not only unsettling but makes for grim commentary.
He averred that dark clouds now hang over the country as many ponder the direction of the country under the two-faced and deceptive leadership of President Akufo-Addo.
He said, “Ghanaians are not oblivious of how similar militias in other countries mutated into full blown terrorist organizations that now haunt those nations and beyond including the politicians who birth them.”
President Akufo-Addo, he said, has lost every moral authority to continue to occupy the high office of First Gentleman of the land after being fingered in the Joy News undercover report and must resign.
According to Mr. James Avedzi, the minority has carefully considered the gravity of the issues and is demanding, in addition to the president’s resignation, that the the Inspector General of Police (IGP) arrest leaders and members of the De-Eye militia group because it has violated numerous laws including Article 85, 200 (2) and 210 (2) of the Constitution of Ghana and Police Service Act, 1970 (Act 350).
The minority, he said, also demands probe into how a facility owned and managed by the State namely the Osu Castle, became a safe haven for a militia and urged for urgent reclamation of the offices and other State properties in possession of the group as a matter of prime importance.
Government, he insisted, should discontinue all training of NPP vigilantes and militias across the country and called on Civil Society Groups and Faith Based Organizations to assume prominent facilitation role in the proposed talks to disband all party vigilantes in view of the fact Government can no longer be trusted as an inculpable party. Demand
Hon. Klutse Avedzi noted that if all the demands are not met in the shortest possible time, the Minority will avail itself to other constitutional avenues in the national interest.
The Minority, he said, would pursue the matter until it is satisfied the right things have been done to ensure the safety of Ghanaians and the nation from threats of militias and vigilantes in 2020 and beyond.
