Former Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture under the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) regime, Sherry Ayittey who is aspiring for the position of National Vice Chairperson has promised to revitalize the Heroes Fund when voted for during the national delegates congress slated for the 17th October 2018 at the Trade Fair Site in Accra.
Madam Sherry Ayittey was addressing some delegates from Suhum Constituency, Fanteakwa North and South, Ayensuanu, Nsawam-Aduagyiri, Akwapim South and North, Atiwa East, New Juaben South and North Constituency in Koforidua.
According to her, it is time for a welfare package to be made available to cater for loyal party members who due to old age and or illness are no longer active, to support them as a way of reward for their dedication to the party during their time.
“A nation or an organization that does not respect and honour her heroes as the saying goes, is not worth dying for,” she said.
She urged the delegates to consider people with integrity, hardworking, team players and above all imbued with the party’s philosophy of probity and accountability, a quality she said she possesses among the other eight contestants.
“I am the only woman among the nine contestants and according to the Dr Kwasi Botchway report, women must be given more executives roles in the party, especially safe seats for the party must be given to women to contest unopposed in order to increase our numbers in parliament,” she added.
She promised to revitalize the heroes fund, ensure women employment and youth employment among other things if elected as the National Vice Chairperson of the National Democratic Congress.
