The Greater Accra Region is set to fall to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 general elections judging from the caliber of executives elected at the regional elections last Saturday.
The election of humble, team player and hardworking man in the person of Mr. William Vinyo as Vice Chairman has virtually cemented the victory of NDC in the greater Accra.
Mr. Vinyo has held the position of Branch Youth Organizer in Ayawaso East Constituency, Branch Chairman, Ward Communications Officer, Ward Coordinator, Ga South District Coordinating Chairman, Constituency Chairman and now the Regional Vice Chairman.
Among objectives he is bringing on board include inspiring the constituency executives, adopting constituencies that have tough challenges, offering needed resources and leading the process of mediation to solve disputes among the constituency executives.
The election of the regional executives paves way for the party’s national executive conference and the presidential race.
Ade Coker retained his seat, which will see him serve as regional chairman for the third time.
Former Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Joseph Yamin, who was widely tipped to win in Ashanti region, lost to Nana Akwasi.
Another highlight of the election was the defeat of former Transport Minister Dzifa Attivor in the chairmanship race of the NDC’s stronghold, Volta Region. She lost to Gyapong Kodjo.
Other elected chairpersons include E.K.T Addo, Central region, Nana Toku, Western region, Jowak, Easter region, Nyamekye Marfo, Brong Ahafo region, Ibrahim Mobila, Northern region.
The rest are Bolnaba, Upper East and Abdul Nasir, Upper West.
