Angry supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper West Akyem District in the Eastern Region last week stormed the new office complex of the Upper West Akyem District Assembly (UWADA), which was being commissioned, to demand the removal from office of the DCE, Hon Eugene Sackey.
The Police in Adeiso intervened to restore order before the commissioning of the new Assembly complex was carried out.
The NPP youth accused the DCE of blaming some members of the NPP ( his own party ) in the Upper West Akyem constituency for damaging the Assembly’s tractor, which became faulty two years ago during the NDC government thereby tarnishing the image of the NPP.
They also alleged that the NPP will have no message to campaign for re-election in 2020 in the District due to the alleged poor performance of the DCE.
Kwame Gyamfi and Mohammed Gali were some of the angry NPP youth who spoke to the media.
The Upper West Akyem NPP Chairman, Nana Addae Obuobi, also expressed his displeasure about the attitude of the DCE and indicated his support for his immediate removal.
However Hon Eugene Sackey, DCE for UWADA, expressed shock at the action of the members and attributed it to misinformation and miscommunication.
