Cheif Imam’s Son Receives Doctorate Degree

The Khalifa of the National Chief Imam of Ghana, Dr. Sheikh Yahaya Al-Amin, has been conferred a Honorary Doctorate Degree by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine through the Vinnytsa State Pedagogical University.

This meritorious award became possible as a result of the recommendation of the Confederation of Governance Assessment Institute (CORGAI) Ghana.

According to the CORGAI, Dr. Sheikh Yahaya Al-Amin and other distinguished personalities have actually shown to the world that they have their societies at heart thus, the honorary degree is in recognition of the good works of the Khalifa in Ghana and beyond.

As founder and spiritual leader of the Islamic Foundation for Peace and Development (IFPAD) Ghana, he used the foundation to support and provide scholarships for brilliant and needy students in society as well as advocate for the rights of women and children.

By his exemplary leadership, the Foundation has been collaborating with some international organizations such as the UNDP, DANIDA and the embassies of the United States of America and United Kingdom.

Since the formation of IFPAD, it has assisted in quelling down violence during electioneering periods in Ghana.

Aside these achievements, Dr. Sheikh Yahaya Al-Amin is an educationist, who has helped in shaping the lives of many Ghanaian youth by imparting knowledge and the fear of Allah to them.

The event took place at the auditorium of the Bank of Ghana conference room on the Legon Campus where Mr. Kwasi Pratt Jnr. encouraged the awardees to continue to do more in their various fields in order to help in alleviating the plights of the needy in their communities.

He bemoaned the manner in which successive governments of the fourth republic have not been able to help breach the gap between rich and the poor in society adding, “A situation if not salvaged by the benevolence of philanthropists and some individual members in society, would be catastrophic in the not too distance future”.

The Honorary  Doctorate Degree conferred on Dr. Sheikh Yahaya Al-Amin was the third award he has received in 2018.

Earlier this year, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints situated in Accra also recognized his contributions towards the promotion of women and children values.

That award was received at a rather short “End of year party” organized by the human resource department of the church.

The Executive Secretary of IFPAD, Mr Ahmed Anyass, told the Daily Democrat that just after the honorary award, Dr. Sheikh Yahaya Al-Amin received another needful award from the African Integrity Magazine, organizers of the African Leaders of Integrity Merit Award in Accra.

The executive secretary of the Islamic Foundation for Peace and Development, on behalf of the entire executives, congratulated the founder and spiritual leader for the awards, and prayed for Allah to continue to bless and strengthen him in order to proceed with his hard work towards the development of society and advancement of peace.

“We also wish to thank all and sundry for their support, prayers and dedication towards the activities of the grand Khalifa of the national chief Imam of Ghana”.

In attendance at the auditorium of the Bank of Ghana were distinguished chiefs, traditional rulers, academics, business men and members of the general public. Representing the Ukraine Ministry of Education were Prof Alla, Vice-Chancellor of the Vinnystsa State Pedagogical University, Dr Eugene, who is the Dean of research of the same university and Dr Prosper, a Ghanaian lecturer at the university.
