Over one hundred and thirty-four (134) School Feeding facilitators during the erstwhile NDC government have threatened to picket naked at the forecourt of the presidency if government fails to respond to them as soon as possible.
At a media briefing to press home their demands, the group petitioned the Ministry of Finance, the Gender, Children and Social Protection Ministry and the Coordinator of the school feeding to as a matter of urgency pay what is due them because they have served the state wholeheartedly.
The leader of the 134 women, Miss. Monica Terlabi, addressing journalists during the press confab, averred that they were contacted within the various MMDCEs to provide meals for the school children.
The government of the NPP, she said, paid part of the second and third term and left out the first term.
“And since then, every effort made for the money to be paid has been futile.”
She indicated that they have legitimate contract agreement with government and that not even the ministry of finance can dispute their claims.
“So, we need our monies,” she declared.
She indicated that they have collected loans from banks whose officials are chasing them every day for these past years.
“We cannot afford to live with this pressure from the banks any longer. Hence, we are appealing passionately to the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to act swiftly on the matter and treat it as a national issue devoid of politics.”
“We are speaking as Ghanaians and not politicians and we believe that the work we did was for the betterment of Mother Ghana”.
The group, whose members were clad in red bandanas to demonstrate their bitterness, stated that they have lost their patience for now and will go to all length to ensure that their monies (arrears) are paid in full.
