PLANTING FOR FOOD AND JOBS TO BENEFIT FARMERS – CEO OF JORNAFIRED ENT

The Chief Executive Officer of Jornafired Enterprise, Mr. John Kwabena Owusu, has expressed profound gratitude to various governments since independence for seeing the need to support farmers.

According to him, the attention offered to farmers by government with the aim of growing the agriculture sector is in the right direction.

Mr. John Kwabena Owusu who was adjudged the 2015 Agro-chemical Metro Best Dealer in the Ashanti Region during the 2015 Farmers Day celebration was of the view that initiatives by government to support farmers through seeds and fertilizer subsidy have motivated many young people to take up farming as an occupation.

He noted that ideologies of all governments are the same towards farmers, which indicates that the nation’s agricultural sector has a great future.

“Youth participation in farming is increasingly encouraging and this would lead to steady growth in the country’s economy.”

According to him, since government is spending so much on farmers, structures have to be put in place to avoid losses after harvest.

According to him, the outstanding challenges farmers face is during harvest because food crops spoil due to lack of storage facilities and urged government to consider these challenges and set up storage and processing facilities in each district to help farmers enjoy good prices during harvest.

Mr. John Owusu stated that Jornafired Enterprise’s core aim as agro-chemical dealers is to support the policies and initiative of every government to put smiles on the faces of farmers to grow more food to boost the country’s food security.
